  1. How to make a liquid bees-wax furniture polish.

    To make liquid beeswax furniture polish you will need the following ingredients:

    • 50 g pure soap flakes
    • 100 g bees-wax
    • 500 mL gum turpentine
    • 250 mL water

         Dissolve the soap in the warm water in one pan, put the shaved wax into the turpentine in another pan and warm gently until the wax is thoroughly melted and dissolved. Then pour the soap mixture into the turpentine, stirring with a wooden stick. When dissolved and well mixed, pour into the storage jars.

         When mixing ingredients ensure they are of the same temperature.

    WARNING: Turpentine is an organic solvent, and thus poses many of the same hazards as do other such substances. Its vapor can burn the skin and eyes, damage the lungs and respiratory system, as well as the central nervous system when inhaled, and among other things cause renal failure when ingested. It is highly flammable igniting spontaneously between 32 degrees C & 46 degrees C.




  2. Silky Smooth Bees-Wax and Honey Lip Balm

    • 2 tsp olive oil
    • ½ tsp grated bees-wax or bees-wax pellets
    • ½ tsp shea butter or cocoa butter
    • ½ tsp honey
    • Any flavoured oil to taste
    • 1 Vitamin E capsule (as a preservative) (optional)


         Mix the first four ingredients together in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for a couple of seconds or until the mixture is completely melted. (Bowl may also be heated in a pan of water on a stovetop).

         Stir well and add the flavoured oil. Pinch open the vitamin E capsule and squeeze the contents into the mixture. Stir again and set aside to cool completely.

         When cooled, transfer into a small portable plastic container or tin.
